The Story
I bought this car in 2019 from Zagame Motors in Melbourne. It’s my second Abarth and my daily driver. It is an Abarth 595 Competizione, with 180HP, Sabelt bucket seats, Record Monza exhaust, Koni suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels. I’ve installed a 7 inch touch screen display, tinted windows, sounds system with sub in the boot, and most recently a baby seat (which no one thought would work). It does mean loading a baby through the boot, which can be a little bit of a funny sight.

The Abarth 595 is the high-performance version of the Fiat 500, transformed by Abarth — the legendary Italian tuning house founded by Carlo Abarth in 1949. The 2016 Competizione features a turbocharged 1.4-litre T-Jet engine, stiffened suspension, Brembo brakes, and the distinctive Abarth Record Monza exhaust that gives the car its signature bark. Despite its diminutive size, the 595 delivers genuine hot-hatch thrills. In Australia, the Abarth 595 was sold through the Fiat Chrysler dealer network and quickly developed a cult following. The Competizione trim sits at the top of the range, offering the most aggressive setup with mechanical limited-slip differential and Sabelt racing seats. These pocket rockets are a popular choice at track days and club events, proving that performance is not about size.
