Suburb or exchange areaAny

Recovered from the telephone number, so for most ads this is the exchange area, several suburbs wide, rather than an address.

CertaintyAny

Drops every ad placed by its telephone exchange, leaving the ones that said where they were.

Year publishedAny

When the ad ran, not the age of the car.

Rego plateAny

Spaces, dashes and full stops are ignored, so am 847 and AM847 are the same search. Part of a plate works too: AM8 finds AM847 and AM830 both.

No plate here means we could not read one, not that the car had none. A plate on two dates is the same car still unsold, though a plate misread off microfilm can collide with a real one, so a very long run is worth checking against the scans.

SellerAny

A dealer is one that printed a licence number or advertised under its own name. Private seller means neither of those was printed, which is the closest the archive gets: it is not proof of a private sale. The named list covers the dealers that advertised more than once.

What the ad mentions

Radio and soundAny

Only a handful of ads name the make. The rest say a radio was fitted without saying whose.

WheelsAny

Fifty ads name the make. "The factory wheels" reads factory, original or Fiat in front of the word, so it finds what the ad claimed, not what was on the car.

Other detailsAny

What the advertisement said. Silence is not proof a car lacked something. Each number is how many of the ads shown now also mention it.
